WFMC Community

Pacific International Academy

I am a Service Learning Program Coordinator for Pacific International Academy, an ESL school located on Marylhurst University Campus. We have students from all over the world come to learn English in Portland, and some option to volunteer with various non-profits around the city. The Willamette Falls Media Center has been one of our most fulfilling and flexible options for our students. They are willing to work with our students in creating programming for their channels, and train them in how to operate high-end technical equipment and software programs. As a part of service learning, our students are required to relate what they are learning, both educationally and culturally. In only 6 weeks of volunteering there, those who choose WFMC gain a deeper understanding of American culture and it's diverse nature, and often share a sense of personal satisfaction at having taken part in programs that air their own international perspective to the local community. It has been one of our most successful exchanges and we would be sorely disappointed if we were unable to share this gift with future students.

Please continue to support the efforts of the Willamette Falls Media Center in bringing together diverse groups of locals and internationals in our community. We take great pride in having such a wonderful center in our area, and it makes a lasting impression on our international students who volunteer there.
